Recapping Tower of God - Part 1

Updated: May 25, 2021

I (sorta) promised a new post sooooooo here I go with something completely useless to your life. As you might know, I’m quite obsessed with Webtoons, specifically Tower of God. I’m going to try and fail to recap this Webtoon- (I question why I’m doing this.) Also this may take 2 or more posts. Reading this is completely optional-

Season 1, let’s start. So there’s a character called the Twenty Fifth Bam, we’re just gonna call him Bam to shorten my writing. He has this friend named Rachel and there’s this thing called the Tower where you have tests on each floor, climbing to the 134th floor means you’ve beaten the Tower and you’re called a Ranker who have insane power.

Rachel tries to go into the Tower and Bam follows her for no reason (there’s a reason, it’s because he genuinely cares about Rachel) and has to pass the test of the first floor. Princess Yuri Jahad (I’ll explain the Princess system later) appears and tells the Test Administrator that the test is so unfair that she gives Bam the Black March (a weapon, I’ll explain in the Princess section as well). Her guide (a human GPS basically) gives Bam an A Rank Pocket. The test is to get past this massive eel and pop a ball that the eel is protecting in a high density shinsu area. (I’ll explain that later as well.)

So Bam runs into the area and tries to pop the ball but then the eel is protecting it so he has to come up with some way to get past the eel. He lets the eel eat him and stabs the eel from the inside. He gets out of the eel and somehow gets to the ball but the Black March still cannot pop the ball. The Black March ignites for Bam and he pops the ball and passes.

Info Paragraph #1 (Part 1): I’ll explain the Princess system now. The Tower is ruled by somebody called Jahad, and apparently, his genes are too 'alpha' to have children (although it kinda doesn't make sense considering some future characters), so he 'adopts' females that are considered 'Princesses'. In order to become a Princess, there were certain requirements such as beauty, power and others. A Princess is selected every few centuries, although there are certain exceptions to this (people in the tower of longer lifespans then us). Princesses go through a process, involving Jahad's blood is injected within them which makes them much stronger than they were before. After a Princess becomes a Ranker, they may receive a weapon from the 13 month series.

Info Paragraph #1 (Part 2): The 13 month series are a series of 13 weapons (technically 12 weapons and 1 arms inventory, which is an inventory of weapons). Jahad had ordered them to be made and had intended to share these weapons among his 12 most trusted companions: Ari Han, Arie Hon, Arlene Grace, Eurasia Blossom, Ha Yurin, Hendo Lok Bloodmadder, Khun Eduan, Lo Po Bia Family Head (we don't know his name yet), Po Bidau Gustang, Tu Perie Tperie, V, Yeon Hana. These plans were foiled when Arlene and V waged war against Jahad and his remaining companions, which resulted in the cancelling of the sharing. This system will force the princesses to compete against each other and fight over the 13 Months Series, because it will become tokens that are proving them as "worthy" to become "Acknowledged Princesses"and that whoever princesses collect all 13 months can become Zahard's wife.

Info Paragraph #1 (Part 3): A being known as the Ghost of the 13 Months haunts these weapons. The ghost stole and took control over the bodies of those who ignited more than two of the 13 months and made them do her bidding. When the princesses are possessed, they went on "rampage" - Zahard will make their "rampage" as an excuse to execute and kill the princesses. There are over five princesses that were already sacrificed using this method. Zahard used this despicable trick to prevent any princesses from gathering all the 13 months. It is a rule of the owners of these weapons to not lend or give any of the 13 months to others.

Now I finished those long paragraphs, I'll move on. Bam has made progress to the second floor, also known as the Floor of Tests or Evankhell's Hell (Evankhell is a major character later on). He wakes up in a field and an announcement is made that there are 400 regulars (regulars are what people who are currently climbing the Tower called) and they must thin the number down to 200, by killing each other. Bam meets a person called Khun Aguero Agnis (we'll call him Khun, which is his family name) and Rak and they become a team after the elimination test.

The next test on the 2nd floor consists of a shinsu barrier which the regulars have to pass through. Bam does not get pushed back as the barrier is created and his teammates pass as well. The logistics of this test is to pick out the ones with a good shinsu resistance.

Info Paragraph #2 (Part 1): In the Tower of God world, shinsu replaces the air, and acts a lot like air. Shinsu has no limits. Using Shinsu alone, somebody can get eternal youth, immortality, control over the elements and even the powers of a god. There are many techniques or skills I will mention in the future which require the skill to manipulate shinsu. The gift of manipulating shinsu directly (without an item) is quite rare talent, although this is indirectly a requirement of becoming a Ranker. There will probably much more info about shinsu later on.

The third test is a simple test in which there are many doors, and the correct door needs to be picked before 10 minutes are up, if they open the wrong door or run over the time limit, they die (RIP). This test is run by somebody named Hansung Yu. By dumb luck, Rak opens a door just before 5 minutes is up, fulfilling the actual conditions for the test: open any door in 5 minutes or less.

I'm going to leave it here because the next arc is a long one (the Crown Game). Remember, reading this is simply optional since I’m doing this for...I don’t know what. This is useless for your life.
